My Therapy Services

My unique style of trauma focused therapy allows us to utilize an eclectic blend of different types of talk therapies combined with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) to move you closer to reaching your therapeutic goals. EMDR therapy services are not just for trauma. EMDR, like other trauma-informed psychotherapy services, can be used to help heal from depression, phobias, and other effects of childhood trauma.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic approach designed to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences. It works by using guided eye movements, taps, or sounds to stimulate the brain while focusing on distressing memories. This process helps "reprogram" how the brain stores and responds to these memories, reducing their emotional impact and allowing people to move forward with a sense of relief and control. EMDR is often used to treat PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related symptoms.

Trauma Therapy can help you:

  • Dissipate negative self talk and beliefs related to trauma (i.e. I am not good enough)

  • Process reoccurring memories/flashbacks using EMDR

  • Tailor skills to manage anxiety and constant worry

  • Create interventions to manage day to day stressors and bring joy back into your life

  • Instill confidence that your past doesn’t have to define you

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach designed to help people find the internal motivation to make positive changes in their lives. Rather than the therapist giving direct advice or instructions, MI focuses on listening closely to the person’s feelings and goals, understanding their reasons for change, and gently guiding them to explore and resolve any ambivalence they may have. It’s a collaborative process where the therapist and client work as a team to build motivation, tap into personal strengths, and identify values that support lasting change. This approach is especially helpful when someone feels stuck or unsure about how to move forward.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps people understand and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. It’s based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, so changing negative thoughts can lead to healthier emotions and actions. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and typically short-term, focusing on addressing current challenges rather than diving deeply into the past. Through CBT, people learn practical skills to cope with stress, manage anxiety, handle depression, and improve overall mental health.
